Honda Is The #1 Green Car Maker

It's no surprised that with vehicles like the hybrid Honda Insight and CR-Z, one would know Honda makes amazing green cars. But the facilities in which these vehicles are built, prior to delivery at Manly Honda Santa Rosa - 2750 Corby Ave Santa Rosa, CA 95407, are the greenest in the auto industry.

According to a survey from nonprofit group US Green Building Council, Honda HQ in Torrance, CA and their Anna, OH powertrain facility both earned top notch "Green Building" certifications. The Honda Canada HQ in Markham, Ontario, earned a similar certification from the Canada Green Building Council.

'Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design,' better known as LEED, are for buildings designed to minimize energy use, along with production of a smaller carbon footprint. LEED certification is a popular award for major corporations - companies seek the designation for facilities around the world and can even receive government tax breaks in order to transform their buildings into eco-friendly environments.

"Honda is focused on reducing the environmental impact of all its operations, not just its products," said Honda spokesman Marcos Frommer. "With our LEED announcement we're highlighting our leadership in an area of growing concern, which is the sustainability of corporate facilities. Not only is this type of activity the right thing to do, but we also believe consumers are looking for companies that are taking a holistic approach to reducing their environmental impact." 1

The first Honda LEED-certified building was designated back in 1999 - the company's Gresham, OR parts and service training facility.
